Hesketh Vortan

The Hesketh VORTAN has been created to satisfy not only the demands of customers past and present but the desire by everyone at Hesketh to produce something special which excites both rider and engineer. Such an opportunity only rarely exists where designs mature and the atmosphere created by far seeing men come together with the knowledge and skills. Our hand is not guided by management or accountants but by engineers and motorcyclists and we assemble Hesketh motorcycles because we enjoy doing so and hope they bring pleasure to others.

Lord Hesketh's endeavour has given us a distinct British motorcycle which has been in production now for over twenty years so to mark this achievement we have created the VORTAN. Evolved from the Hesketh V1000 it retains some of the better qualities of the earlier British motorcycles without turning its back on the advantages of modern material and design.

While the engine retains many of the earlier models details such as four valve heads with double overhead cams, electronic ignition and five speed gearbox we have now increased the size to 1100cc with a longer stroke, steel crank, different ignition, cams and cylinder heads. The chassis is completely new to give better performance with lighter components and steering, European styling and innovative suspension without the need for gimmicks to do its job. It is not built for speed but hopefully will reflect the mood of the rider in its response to the controls.

We shall only be assembling a few VORTAN machines for sale. This amount allows us to control the quality of the components without getting away from the skilled assembly methods. Also to give value for money we shall build them in one batch only. We would encourage visits so you can see your machine take shape and be involved in all stages of this great adventure.

Due to the small quantity of machines sold world-wide, local market requirements are the responsibility of the customer and our desire to build to the highest standard using the latest materials may under certain road conditions prove unsuitable in the longer term. The specification is subject to change. We offer a personal build programme and so will assist where possible with your local needs and legal requirements.
